Ted Smith wrote this song and is playing rhythm guitar and singing lead vocal in this 1985 WINDANSEA BLUES BAN song called "Gonna Faint". John Henry King is playing bass, Arlen Taylor on drums, Andy Fitzgerald is playing keyboards Blake and Ozstar are toiling on percussion and background arguments and Ozstar plays lead guitar at the end. Yours truly, Edward Brinkman, is playing guitar and I recorded this on a little ghetto blaster cassette machine. Most of the photos came from Ted's facebook page, Kirk Aeder and RK sent me some shots, I grab a few off some other FB pages, the football field footage came from a quicksilver ad and I video'd Rolo at his house on the North Shore with my iphone. I hope this makes you smile.

  • Ted had a smile that said everything was ok even after a bar fight with a black eye he had a huge smile . Great fun to be bus boys and waiters at the grease. Miss him everyday. Kelly

  • I didn't know Ted but what a great tribute video. Great Fun Song too... RIP

  • Thanks so much for posting this video! Knew Ted as a kid/teenager and always knew he was coolness personified. Today at the Windansea memorial I had the opportunity to see how many lives he touched in the relatively short stay on this earth! My sadness comes in never having met the man.......Surf with the Angels, beautiful boy!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing. Didn't know Ted personally but if you surf the reefs in LJ is impossible not to recognize him. Rest in Paradise Ted

  • I just found out about Ted, and even though I moved away, there were fond and wild memories of hanging out with Ted and the locals. La Jolla is a special and mystique place where camaraderie rules especially among the Windansea surfers. Ted will be missed, what a great smile and kind soul.

  • Caroline sent me the link to this today and said it would make me smile - until I rolled the tape, I didn't see how that could be possible- but of course she was right. You may wonder who this fine fellow named Oscar Bayetto is, well, it's actually Leslie Andersen here (of Draper Avenue) and I picked this as my 'nom du tube' Love out to our magnificent tribe. Had a dream of hanging a the beach with Ted today - nothing out of the ordinary - it was just a good, regular, warm summer day.
