Oh look a Chinook, a great helicopter, but wait, wasn't that designed and built by America?? Oh no, the Brits may actually have to get off their high horses and pay us some respect.
Brits: Your country is a fricken military joke these days, just look at the state of your navy! bwahahahaha!
okay, 19 year chinook guy here. for all the uninitiated, speaking of top speeds in helcopters is kind of silly. At 170 Knots, you really don't want to be INSIDE the aircraft. And the old super C guys that took them faster "back in the day" would tell you its just not that pleasant. Vibration at high speed in helos is pretty bad...but when it comes to helo records, when the lynx does over 200kts or the AS350B lands at 29,100;, we all think it is pretty cool
Jesus won't help you, but perhaps these websites will:
army dot mod dot uk (click equipment then aircraft)
AugustaWestland dot com (you will find the cruise speed is in between the top speed figures you gave)
Now you do understand what I mean when I write 'dot' don't you?
I would have thought the organisation that operates them and the company that manufactures them might be more reliable sources. Sorry about your unflinching faith in militaryfactory's information, but you're just wrong.
Those are the correct stats. Top Speed....not Cruise Speed
Sorry about your precious Lynx. I have no reason to BS you. Just stating the facts. Very easy to friggen check. Go look at the damn site militaryfactory dot com. Use of course a period in place of the word dot. Jesus
The figures you have for the Lynx are actually the cruise speed. The top speed is 205 mph (source the British Army - strangely they do seem to operate this type of helicopter despite what the 'pilot' above seems to think).
I believe it is still correct that a version of the Lynx holds the world speed record for a helicopter of 249 mph.
@Rentaghost76
pathetic comment mate,give it twenty years and a chineseman will say the same about the usa.(possibly sooner)
