yes and you accessed Compuserve with programs such as QuickLink II. Quick Link II came out about 1992. 9600 baud was the highest speed back then for home use. Even though there was a 115200 setting (probally outside the us) FCC regulations set the maximum standard of 53k and it was probally lower back then.

0.0 yeah actually. I recall seeing an ad in the back of a videogame magazine around late '92. It listed this confounding number.

Quiet: yes I remember. I remember being thrilled by having 170k available on half a floppy. I also SysOped several BBSs from Commodore to MSDOS and was a FiDo member.
