@zgopify i think he really should get a award some honoring dont know, he taught me a lot!! and he does for us it's incredible the effort

A singer to the core. Brilliant and spontaneous vocalism, the hallmark of all the singers of the Golden Era, unlike what is purported to be operatic singing today

Gorgeous! I'm so ashamed that I and many of my colleagues have never heard of her. One of my new favorites. To these critics who foolishly think they actually had the same recording qualities as they do now, remember the quality of old recordings made ALL singers sound a little like chipmunks. Caruso, Lanza, Anderson, all of them sounded like this in recordings. But you can still hear the incredible skill, and if you can't something is wrong with your ears!

at the 2:40 mark - that is one hell of a chest voice

One can't help but wonder what happened to that 2-min. wax cylinder Supervia made as an Edison test recording when quite young. Edison heard it and commented negatively that "she has too much quiver in her voice; an inferior singer." What a pity for all who appreciate her art. Imagine having Supervia Diamond Discs!

GOD I LOVE CONCHITA

No wonder Cecilia Bartoli idolizes her...

I remember her so well when I was a girl - she really was one of THE operatic names of my childhood, and it's lovely to hear that marvellous voice again. Many thanks.

Wow! That's all I can say! I had never heard her sing before
Delicious singing, from top to bottom. Her way with words is unique, with perfect enunciation from the highest to the lowest note. Her tragic death from childbirth in 1936 was an enormous loss to the opera world. Brava!

I could critique the just a hint too prominent vibrato, but that's about it... There is just too much to admire about Supervia's rendition: the gentle vocal acting (with no overdramatization), the unmannered singing, the easy coloratura technique, the wide range, the obvious enjoyment. I have several versions of this aria but only Von Stade is just as good (actually, I find that they are quite close vocally). Anyway, thank you for this :)!
