[G] I never [C] thought a[G]bout
What I's [D] gonna [G] do
I just [C] watched the [D] winding [G] view
[G] I always [C] had to [G] shout
What I's [D] gonna [G] do
To [C] escape the [D] wilding [G] blue

[D] You can only [C] hope to try and [Em] run
You can [D] scream from the [C] tops of your [Bm] lungs
But you [C] can't escape the [D7] wilding [G] blue

[G] I felt a [C] volt of [G] shock
When I [D] faced the [G] truth
That my [C] fear it [D] framed my [G] moods
[G] I had to [C] watch the [G] clock
When I [D] faced the [G] truth
Hope [C] escapes the [D] wilding [G] blue

[D] You can only [C] hope to try and [Em] run
You can [D] scream from the [C] tops of your [Bm] lungs
But you [C] can't escape the [D7] wilding [G] blue

Verse Break

[D] You can only [C] hope to try and [Em] run
You can [D] scream from the [C] tops of your [Bm] lungs
But you [C] can't escape the [D7] wilding [G] blue

You [C] can't escape the [D] wilding [G] blue
You [C] can't escape the [D] wil[D7}ding [G] blue

  • @classican

    Cheers.

  • Ok, WOW! This is how it was supposed to sound, when I wrote it. I am really honored that Jock would cover my song, and even more honored that you would do such a great job with it. THANKS MAN!

    Johnny Z.

  • @UncleVRoy

Cheers Johnny. It's funny - I was going to cover that pastel shades song, but then discovered this one on your channel. It's a great song - it has a classic structure and a very natural chord progression, coupled with a lyric which scans perfectly as well as allowing the listener to connect whilst remaining ambiguous. Thanks for the song. Jock

  • I missed this one when you first posted it. I like when you get all mellow and then hit high notes like that at just the right places. It's hooky as hell and there's a warmth to it. Can't help but sing along in my head. Gonna head over to Johnny's version now. I have no doubt you done him real proud here though. I really enjoyed this.

  • Damn thats nice!! Great job Jock and Johnny.

  • Great job Anon. I really loved when Johnny first did this one. You cover it so magically. Kudos.
