  • I know they walk like that even without a rider, but do they do the high step canter? It would be strange to see a horse canter like that toward you!!

  • @tdubis70 Yes they do canter even as colts. I have seen them in the field many times.

  • Padded horses should be banned! Keep it flat shod.

  • This looks so odd... o.O I'm not familiar with Walking Horses, so forgive me if this sounds dumb, but do those horses walk the same way when they're turned out in the pasture with no rider? Also, the rider seems to be sitting pretty far back, compared to Western or English riders, and they look like they're, I don't know, slumping in the saddle... Is this normal? I reckon they use a special type of saddle, don't they? What kind of bit do they use? Those shanks look pretty long to me...

  • @Horseloversrox The video you saw had to be done by a person or group that is against this breed. The h$u$ put together videos all the time to raise money. They once offered $10,000 for some one to turn in a person who would abuse a horse to show. Never had the first one. That should tell you something. Are there abusers YES and as long as we have shows races or any other type of sport with an animal there will be those who cheat, just don't condemn the entire breed for actions of a few.

  • @Horseloversrox it means you have beenhad in a way. The Walking Horse Industry has been working for years to rid it self of the abusers. We now stand at a 98% compliance rate with the USDA present. We are the only breed that inspects our horses before a show, sale or exhibition. Yes we still have a few here and there but for the most part the abusers are gone & its past history. As for the saddlebreds, every breed has their problem people and the saddlebreds are no different. Let it stay there.

  • @TheWhatAHorseShow I don't get it what do you mean cheese fall of my cracker and before i saw the soring videos i thought that videos were fine I thought it might be fun to see sometime but then i saw video on soring and what do you mean to not talk about american saddlebreds

  • @TheWhatAHorseShow thanks so much.

  • @grandcarriage1 I'm sorry I thought I had it right. There is video on here of Caper, he was a padded show horse that I decided to make my trail horse. The video of him will show you how they go with out pads. As far as the weight of the pads most weigh around 5 lbs and the largest action device we can use is 6oz. A 1200lb horse with a 5lb package compared to a young lady with a pair of cowboy boots on. They are not that heavy to the horse. Action device some watches weigh more.

  • @TheWhatAHorseShow If I'm understanding you correctly, you mis-understood the point of my comment. What I would like to see is a vid of a show horse, like above, and then the same horse with "shoe package" pulled (now going barefoot, light keg shoe, etc) being ridden, so the way of movement could be compared and contrasted. Just out of curiousity, what is the approximate weight of a "shoe package"? Pads, wieghts, and shoes?

  • @Horseloversrox I left your post up so people could see how foolish or stupid some people are. First the pads are not made out of cement as far as break his sprit you have let some of your cheese fall of you cracker. Our horses show in to their late teen and early 20's and as far as the saddlebreds, your shouldn't even try to go there. What I mean by thay is turn on the lite if you get my meaning.

  • @chrisvpena you need to get in touch with Bobby McNatt at Mcnatt farms in Lincoln county. He trains trail and obstacle course horse as well as run a small Tack Shop there on his farm. He has a saddle pad that you can adjust to help make the saddle fit better. I bet he can help with your problem.
