Dealing with my first experience with gout and I can safely say it was caused by driking beer. I had cut out beer several years ago and recently started drinking it again. At night I would get charlie horse in my calf when I would drink beer and now my left big toe is inflammed and swolen. If you have gout stay away from beer!!
Have gout? Keep your uric acid level below 6 mg/dL. Don't know what your uric acid level is? Find out. Check it often. Home uric acid test kits are affordable.
You can be symptom free for months or years, but if your UA is consistently above 6, increasingly severe attacks are inevitable.
If you're trying to control gout through diet alone, it's vital that you know your uric acid level. If you can't keep it below 6, take the damned pill.
Sorry, purines in foods convert to uric acid. There maybe some by products of uric acid in beer, I'm not sure. sorry, I meant that meat and oily sardines/mackerel/offal are all high in purines, but what I meant is that these foods have a marginal effect upon your uric acid production overall. Fruit raises uric acid alot! Candida albicans produces uric acid as a by-product, find info on internet. WHAT ELSE WERE YOU EATING? (red wine feeds candida and has alot of sugar/CARBS in.
@Catherine8raw Wow now I am really confused! Uric acid is not found in food, but is the waste material of synthesised purin...Or did I get this wrong? Also in meat and oily fish the content of purine is high and not marginal, unless I have misread the table. I got gout after following a strict diet on very low carbs and eating lots of salmon, mackerel, spinach and ...Red wine! MIght ot be related...
Did not really get your copnnection with candida... P.S. are pissed off for me asking?
The greatest foods containing uric acid is offal, and even if you get foods that are huge in purines, you'll find that you may get gout, despite doing everything right because the purines are not the cause. These foods have a marginal effect upon your uric acid load. Water/cherries may give relief but stopping the massive uric acid production in DONE IN A WAY THAT YOU CAN MANAGE... w ho can live healthily on just fruit and vegetables for ever, even no nuts/beans, its perthetic and rediculous!
Well, people do not know the casue of gout. It is known the marginal amounts of purines in meat/fish/beans doesn't have a huge effect on your uric acid. IN FACT IT IS FUNGUS, CANDIDA that produces huge amounts of ucid acid as a by-product and this explains why people get sudden attacks after things that feed Candida, like cheese, beer, mushrooms, fruit. An anti candida diet find books on amazon. Also controling insulin levels with a low carb, low fruit, high fat, med protein diet helps.

I'd been a vegetarian for over eight years when I developed gout. Walking was my favorite form of excercise.
