Governmental initiatives from the HiTech Act (Meaningful Use) to Healthcare Reform have dramatically raised the stakes for the use of information technology in healthcare. Hospitals and providers are investing billions of dollars to implement electronic health records that will help deliver higher quality, safer and more efficient care, meet a variety of regulatory requirements, and position them for success under Healthcare Reform. In addition to investing heavily in the foundational elements of healthcare IT, UCSF is blazing new trails as it integrates leading-edge technologies into the upcoming Benioff Women_s and Children_s Hospital as well as in the creation of actionable clinical information for individual patients and across the state of California. Join this session to hear Dr. Blum and Dr. Bokser explain how the sum of these efforts will change the face of healthcare over the coming decade.
