TGen & Pancreatic Cancer Research

Pancreatic Cancer is a vicious killer, the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., claiming a higher percentage of lives than any other form of cancer. Dr. Daniel Von Hoff leads the Clinical Translational Research Division at TGen which focuses on genetic and biochemical approaches to identify diagnostics and molecular targets for the development of new therapies for pancreatic cancer. Dr. Von Hoff and his team were instrumental in the development of an anti-cancer agent (gemcitabine) that significantly improves survival rates of patients with pancreatic cancer.

TGen's efforts in pancreatic cancer research are aided by the fact that Dr. Von Hoff has coordinated the formation of a world-wide team of experts solely focused on pancreatic research, named the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team (PCRT). Scientists within the PCRT share knowledge and resources to make rapid advances in pancreatic research. PCRT specializes in using this knowledge to initiate clinical trials to allow patients immediate access to newly developed therapies.
