Skylar Diggins returned from unforgettable trip from Washington DC to see Barack Obama's Presidential Speech at 2pm on Wednesday. One hour later, she was back on the court at South Bend Washington practicing with her teammates and preparing for Semi-State on Saturday.

Diggins has already accomplished a lot in her life--- on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

But none of her outstanding experiences may match the one she had Tuesday night.

Diggins was a guest of 2nd District Congressman, Joe Donnelly to hear Obama's speech.

Newscenter 16 caught up with Skylar via telephone moments after the speech, while she was still in the Capitol Building.

"It was amazing," the Panther senior said. "I was in shock."

"I stood up to clap at almost everything he said. He is an amazing person and I think he has us all believing we can get past this and that good times are on the way."

Diggins didn't get a chance to meet the President, but she's not complaining.

"I did get a very good view of him and not just him," Skylar explained. "I saw John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, the first lady---I had a very good view of the first lady."

"We're still actually in the Capitol Building and I see these people walking past me and it's starting to become a reality that I'm actually in D.C. and that I just got to watch President Obama speak live at his biggest speech so far since he's become President."

"To be able to listen to him and be a part of it, I feel like I'm a a part of history," Diggins said.

Skylar couldn't thank Congressman Donnelly enough, saying he was a tremendous host to her and her mom. Skylar said she was honored that the Congressman chose her to attend the speech.

Diggins is not only a star on the court, but off the court as well, sporting a 3.9 GPA.

She has signed a letter of intent to play for Notre Dame next season.

But she's still not through with this season. She and South Bend Washington will play for the 4A Semi-State championship on Saturday. A victory sends them to the State title game for the 4th straight year.

After an amazing evening, Diggins is expected to return home on Wednesday, returning to practice to prepare for Saturday's big game against Pendleton Heights at Plymouth High School.
