On my second to last day on the trail, So Far and I hiked a cross-country route through the rugged Florida Mountains. I am not sure if I would recommend the route, since it was precarious with all the loose rock and thick, gnarly stands of cacti. It certainly was the more scenic and adventurous route than taking the road, and after all I guess that's why I am out hiking, eh?
Enjoyed watching quite a few of your videos of the CDT - stumbled upon them by chance! I haven't hiked this trail yet but would certainly like to do quite a portion of it. Congrats on finishing and hope the "re-integration" into working society has been going as well as possible!

This is definitely not the state of Florida. It's part of the Continental Divide Trail - the key words say Florida Mountains which is located in New Mexico. I live in Florida and faulted mountains don't exist there. Check out the Florida Trail. I'll be thru-hiking the FT starting January.
