The original trippy visuals for music was the "Color Organ", invented in the early 1700s. Each note of the scale was assigned to a specific color. Sir Isaac Newton, Helmholtz, and Scriabin each had his own scheme for which color went with which note.

Eye Vapor's color organ allows the performer to choose any famous color scheme or invent your own. Ozzy Osborne via Scriabin? Sonny Rollins a la Helmholtz? This is not a problem.

  • Interesting historical and philosophical lecture here! (Scriabin's unusual distribution suggests "Synesthesia"? )

Perhaps it would be less rainbow-y "same" if using monophonic sequences? Or if only the lowest note of the bass line would register?

The idea of assigning colors to chord changes does have a special appeal somehow, though which color may be a matter of personal opinion ;-)

  • i want this
