  • @salonvictoria- Freddy Fender was 100% American. He was born in America, and served in the Marines. Just because somebody speaks Spanish doesn't make them Mexican.

  • Gracias por este video!

  • My family is Scots-Irish Southerners. My dad bought this album in 1974, and we listened to it all the time, along with the Everly Brothers, Elvis (of course!), Beatles, Carpenters, Willie, Hank, Patsy Cline, etc.

Freddy Fender is a Saint, and his music touched our lives--I don't care what he spoke. He was and always will be an important part of American Country/Western/Folk/Tex-Mex music.

    God rest his sweet soul.

  • the instrumental part wasn't too good

  • @clyde21641- But yes, born of Mexican parents to go on and serve in the Marines to then become one of the greatest artists of his time, he was a great Mexican-American!

  • @clyde21641- Don't project your feelings at me! My message was clear and straight to the point. The only one throwing words like 'curse' and 'offended' here is you. I merely was bringing up the fact that there's a difference between race and nationality.

  • @salonvictoria He had a great talent and whats wrong with being a Mexican !!!!! He was even if he was borned here, Mexican is only a Nationality not a curse, Most Mexican friends I have are proud of their heritage and not offended by the word Mexican as you seem to be. . In fact I have some in my family and whats wrong with that? I was raised in South Texas and Pecos Tex , I am very familar with the Mexican people and speak Spanish pretty well, so maybe I Know something.

  • @clyde21641 Oops, noticed a blooper, i said most new mexicans,...i meant those of mixed ancestry,....pueblo indian, meshikas and spanish.

  • @clyde21641 Its sad the racism i have found here,....because he speaks spanish he's mexican,..not! I knew a beautiful mexican american lady from abiquiu, new mexico, she spoke fluent english and spanish as most new mexicans do, descendants of pueblo tribes converted to christianity and taught spanish. We are all one, totally agree with ya good man! =)
