@JasonsEvilMind , ability and presence are two different topics. Yes, the Duke made many cookie cutter movies like many are today. However, for me at least John Wayne was outstanding in this film as in The Sands of Iwo Jima and The Quite Man or True Grit. Perhaps it might be that I grew up with the Duke and his pictures. Thank you for your input.

This is the Dukes finest performance in a western movie. The set, cinematography, script and cast; it all comes together from the beginning to the end. This kind of movie will never be made again. No present actor has the same presence as John Wayne.
