Nasonal Local Stringband... with David Bridie & Phil Wales

While in Vanuatu for Fest Napuan 2006, Telek band members David Bridie and Phil Wales stopped off at Beachcomber Lodge in north east Efate.

The resident band, Nasonal Local Stringband, performed the Tokosouwia hit "Gel Pentecost" - a particular favourite of David and Phil's - and for an encore the Aussie boys joined in. Phil later described this experience as one of the highlights of his career.

The Nasonal Local Stringband plays every day around lunchtime at Beachcomber Lodge, Vanuatu. They are currently raising money for a new wheelchair for senior member Smilie so if you see them please tip generously!

David Bridie is currently working on a documentary about PNG's Moab Stringband, which will also examine the cultural phenomenon of stringband music throughout the Pacific.

Yes, this was shot right next to the dining room/indoor pool and not too far from the outdoor pools. I personally believe the water, which is replenished regularly from the natural source, has healing properties. Before I went to Vanuatu I had a very annoying rash on my shoulders which tried for months to shift. Half a day of lazing around in the water at Beachcomber and it went away completely and has not returned. Then again it could have been the sunburn...!
