I'm just starting, I'm sure you've gotten the hang of it by now, I'm getting pretty good at it, and it's been just a little over a month since I've been using an mpc. I'm just researching sample clearance right now, I don't want to jump to fare ahead of myself before I use anything.

..............When I need to tempo sync / beatmatch an acapella or vocal sample I load the acapella into an audio track in Cubase. I then create a midi track underneath routed to a drum plugin. On this midi track I bang a bassdrum in time with the audio and record it, one hit on each beat. I then use these bassdrums as makers to cut the audio into perfect bars. Export these bars (with the midi track muted) and load them into your DR REX. Hope this makes it easier.

Hello Rowenna. I have just watched some of your videos. Not enough girls doing what you do. I like that you try different styles etc. You have a nice voice too. Would love you to send me an acapella to make a beat to. I have a tip for you too but I will have to start a new comment because I am running out of characters so please see my next comment.......................

the piano and congas sound awesome! then when the vocals come in it reminds me of Moby crossed with David Lynch's strange music scores

i think that would be a difficult sample for ANYBODY to work with because the vocals are really off beat. but you got the backing melody perfectly on beat and it sounds great with the subtle piano keys you threw in there. good job. keep at it.

Justscratch, thanks, I appreciate the feedback - yes, I guess it was a difficult first track to work with but was fun to try. Sampling is much more of an art than I first realised. Take care xx
