Four thousand nurses from the Sutter Health System went
on strike on December 22, 2011 to defend their conditions
and benefits as well as protecting staffing to protect the patients.
Sutter Health also put out full newspaper ads saying that nurses were retiring
with $84,000 a year. Alta Bates CNA nurses including a bargaining committee
member discuss the issues that they face in fighting the corporate
management of Sutter. The strike and rally took place in front of the
