"The Sound of Silence was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon and originally recorded as an acoustic piece for the first Simon and Garfunkel album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. released October 19, 1964 by Columbia records. It was later overdubbed with electric guitar (played by Al Gorgoni), electric bass (Bob Bushnell), and drums (Bobby Gregg), and released it as a single in September 1965, resulting in Simon and Garfunkel's first hit. The version presented here is the original acoustic one.

Impressive! No dislikes! Now is that because everyone has been hypnotised by its beauty or is it because no unappreciative viewers have navigated to this video? I would like to think that it is because of the latter, yet either way it nice to know that music in it's purist form is still alive...

I hear sounds and read posts about the "acoustic" and the "instrumental " version of this song... what is this sacrilege? There is only one version of this song - and it is sung by ONLY 2 people... everything else is just details (and, yes, though God dwells there, he blesses them both, I am sure of that...)

I prefer this acoustic version to the version that was later "enhanced" with studio musicians...simple, with an aim that is true.
