"The Sound of Silence was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon and originally recorded as an acoustic piece for the first Simon and Garfunkel album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. released October 19, 1964 by Columbia records. It was later overdubbed with electric guitar (played by Al Gorgoni), electric bass (Bob Bushnell), and drums (Bobby Gregg), and released it as a single in September 1965, resulting in Simon and Garfunkel's first hit. The version presented here is the original acoustic one.

  • Finally, someone posted the acoustic version. Thank you!

  • I prefer this acoustic version to the version that was later "enhanced" with studio musicians...simple, with an aim that is true.

  • Impressive! No dislikes! Now is that because everyone has been hypnotised by its beauty or is it because no unappreciative viewers have navigated to this video? I would like to think that it is because of the latter, yet either way it nice to know that music in it's purist form is still alive...

  • Soy el "like" 715-0

  • Damn right there are no dislikes.

  • i remember this song well i was 15 when it came out in 1966 and now i am a 61 year young woman and still love this song.

  • I'M A BLACK MAN THAT WAS BORN IN 1980, I LOVE HIP HOP MUSIC AND HAVE NO BUSINESS LIKING THIS SONG ..LOL WITH THAT BEING SAID ....I LOVE THIS SONG WITH A PASSION !!!!!!!! VERY DEEP ! IT ALREADY HYPNOTIZED ME !!! OK TIME TO EXPAND MY GENRE ....LOL

  • Thank you I spend so mush time finally founded.

  • I hear sounds and read posts about the "acoustic" and the "instrumental " version of this song... what is this sacrilege? There is only one version of this song - and it is sung by ONLY 2 people... everything else is just details (and, yes, though God dwells there, he blesses them both, I am sure of that...)

  • I just love this... I havent actually heard the radio version.

  • Beautiful this song. I was only 14th years old que they sang that song.
