The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. The goal of the research- based organization is to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer. The society works directly with the public as a resource for education, cancer patient programs, and health services.

Madeline Rice is the Special Events Coordinator of the American Cancer Society Jersey Shore Region in Toms River, N.J. Dr. Nagy, a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in Toms River, N.J. volunteers his time as a Corporate Leadership Council member for the Jersey Shore Region of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Nagy was recognized by the American Cancer Society as Volunteer of the Year in 2010.

The American Cancer Society Website has valuable information on cancer prevention, including Cancer Screening Guidelines, Cancer Exams and Test Descriptions, Cancer issues for women's health, and cancer issues for men's health.

Visit the American Cancer Society's website to learn about the many cancer patient programs available. Two thirds of all cancer's are preventable, and The American Cancer Society is dedicated to cancer prevention education. Watch as Madeline & Dr. Nagy talk about some of the many free cancer programs available to cancer patients and their families. Visit the website for more information.

Fighting Cancer is hard, but finding help should not be. Getting emotional and social support from other cancer survivors can be as important as getting the proper medical care. At the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, guests share similar experiences and are supported by caring staff and volunteers. The nurturing, comfortable environment at Hope Lodge allows patients to focus on what is most important: fighting and winning the battle against cancer.

Hope Lodge offers free temporary housing for cancer patients who are undergoing treatment and can even house their families. More than just a place to stay, Hope Lodge is a home away from home. Offering a comfortable and supportive environment for encouragement and healing. There are many Hope Lodge facilities throughout the nation; visit the Amercian Cancer Society website to find one near you.

What is Road to Recovery?
Every day thousands of cancer patients need treatment, but some may not have a way to get to the facilities.
The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment facilities for people who do not have a ride or are unable to drive. Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars so patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need. Many volunteers are cancer survivors who have received help from the American Cancer Society in the past.
Call 1-800-227-2345 to find out if Road to Recovery is available in your community.
The American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better Program is a non-medical, brand-neutral public service program that teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients which helps them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.

The American Cancer Society Business & Industry Council Programs include Lunch & Learn cancer seminars, cancer prevention talks, onsite cancer screenings, and much more.
The Movement for More Birthdays
For nearly 100 years, the American Cancer Society has been working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. We can't do it without your help!! The Movement for More Birthdays is about everyday people, just like you, coming together to make a difference. This year more than 11 million cancer survivors will celebrate another birthday thanks in part to the progress we've already made. We can't stop there, however. With every person who joins the movement, we can get closer to the day when cancer doesn't steal another year from someone's life. It all starts by helping people stay well and get well, by finding cures and fighting back. Join the movement Learn more at our website
