The reason I am going on a rant is because I am sick and tired of being scared about spanking my child. Its my child! Let me punish him the way I want as long as its not beating them to death. Children bruise easy and if a bruise comes up, well so be it! The child will learn from their experience. I do have one rule for myself and I do not hit above the waist. I will spank on the butt and lets. I will even use a belt or switch. It was done on me and I will continue to use it because it works!

and not take everything your parents or community conditioned you to believe as fact. its not ok to have beliefs that you cant legitimately justify, and continue stubbornly arguing those beliefs when they are baseless.

@cartel0025 im sure your neice gets beat just right and you are the man or woman who is the true child raising genius. but you are using wishful thinking, illogical thinking, and dillusional thinking to justify your actions, and it doesnt make spanking right. if you did a simple google search, i challenge you to find a credible source, that validates anything you are saying. hint: its impossible. @cartel0025 pro spankers love to make spanking a toss up argument. at best the only thing they say is well some take it over board BUT NOT ME. I hit my kids just right. Its all those other people that give spanking a bad name. But this is a black and white issue. It's either harmful or it's not and it has been proven harmful countless times. If parents dont know how to handle a 3 year old, its because that child isnt receiving discipline, its not they are acting that way because they arent hit.

@cartel0025 the same people who take care of you and say i love you can also inflict pain on you when they wish. thats pretty cruel. But we can only say that spanking, which is the action, teaches that same action. For example, if I came up and pepper sprayed you. Would I be crazy if I said that pepper spraying someone teaches them how to take apart a car? yes i would. but that is exactly what you are arguing with spanking.

@cartel0025 not sure how I am being too emotional. I'm trying to stick with what is fact. You're trying to stick with your own opinion and perspective. Some kids probably do thank their parents for beating them when they were younger. We see the same thing from wives who are beaten by their abusive husbands, and kidnap victims who root for their attacker. It doesn't mean spanking works. It is your opinion that spanking teaches those things. It does teach them that humans are cruel, I agree.

I have seen kids being spanked and years later are thanking their parents for not letting them get away with what they were doing( yes you have those that take it over board) Basically spanking teaches kids that the world is a cruel place and must be respected making them more likely to think twice on their actions. Most of today's parents are whooped by a three year old and don't know how to handle her. Not a problem with my niece.

@cartel0025 the government telling me how to raise kids? no way. the government protecting kids from something harmful like spanking? i hope so. everything else you stated was complete opinion with zero foundation. spanking has been proven harmful, that is a fact, not a weak opinion. while i agree its better physically to hit on the butt is better than the head, hitting is still hitting, regardless of whatever rosey terms you want to use to describe it, e.g., spanking, discipline, correcting et.

A swat on the butt may not been effective on some but it has on others. kids are not the brightest and a one or two swats on the butt with the hand would be better than some angry stranger smashing his or her head with his boot or a bottle.
