Because of the dickhead holding the fish that fish will get burn marks and be unprotected to disease. The best thing you could have done for that fish was kill it.

I agree for this water its a big one, not a monster at all....I really wonder how those trouts can stand relaxed in front of croud and steel be active?? in my place wild trout is pretty wild...it will dissapear before you show your head above the first rock 20 mtrs away...

People saying it's not a monster... perhaps not by big river/lake standards, but look at the context of the capture: it's a stream pretty much narrow enough to jump across. I fish these kind of waters regularly and fish of 6 to 8 inches are the normal fare - that fish is 2 or 3lb... so for that kind of water it's big. Plus it's a wild fish, and a I'd take a 3lb wild brownie over an inbred, naive, overfed stock fish any day of the week. Why have a go at a guy for being proud of his catch?
