As your cat ages, it can become less and less agile due to the development of arthritis. Cats can experience the same pain and stiffness from arthritis that it causes us. There is a product that appears to be able to help rebuild cartilage in joints. This product is glucosamine for cats.

Glucosamine is a very natural substance and a form of it is found normally in the cartilage of joints in the body. As a cat ages, there becomes less and less of this substance in the joints which causes the joints to become stiff and makes movement very painful. The glucosamine appears to really help with arthritis and rebuild the cartilage in the joints.

Glucosamine can also help to prevent your cat from developing arthritis or other types of pain throughout the body. Because of it being natural, you do not have to worry about giving it to your pet because it will not hurt it. As with any supplement though, you will want to check with your cat's veterinarian for the correct choice for them.

Glucosamine has very few side effects, but sometimes your cat could develop diarrhea or maybe even vomiting. If this does happen, you can usually reduce the dose and give it with food and usually the side effects will disappear. One more main thing about glucosamine is that once it is started your cat will have to stay on it for the rest of their lives. If you stop glucosamine, the symptoms of arthritis will start to come back.

Overall, glucosamine for cats has few side effects and can make your cat's life more comfortable, it is completely worth giving it a try. Europe has actually been using glucosamine for many years to treat arthtitis. Although glucosamine has been used in Europe for years, it is still a relatively new treatment in the U.S. for the symptoms of arthritis in humans and pets.
