We stop to check out Emerald Mound, the second largest Indian Mound in the country. This was once a center of commerce, religion, and culture. John decides to roll down the mound, and I slide down the rail of the stairway. I weep for the future.

  • Impressive mound, if your ever in Northeast Louisiana go see Poverty Point. 100 foot mound in it's hayday, now about 75 feet high. Great museum there too. Poverty Point was a shopping mall of sort for the Native Americans at that time.
