The story: These guys fly over my house every day at dusk during the late fall/early winter. Their intended, and usual, destination is Mount St. Vincent University, which is directly behind my house. You can see them come from all over. They make the trees, and ground, black. Sometimes, they stop a little short of their mark, and stop in my yard - like on this occasion. Mount St. Vincent University was of the Catholic variety. Folklore has it that the crows are the souls of the nuns.

Correction - *late fall/winter*, not early winter. They are here until nesting time and come back when their little guys are not so little anymore.
