The Balloonatic is a 1923 short comedy film directed by and starring Buster Keaton. It was one of Keaton's final short films. A young man (Keaton) has a series of encounters in an amusement area, much like Coney Island, until happening upon a group of men preparing a hot air balloon for launch. The young man assists the group by climbing atop the balloon to afix a pennant, when the balloon mistakenly takes flight with no one aboard but the young man. The young man finally downs the balloon in a wilderness area, where he encounters a young outdoorswoman and proceeds to have a series of misadventures.

In all his movies he never seems to lose his beloved pork pie hat. I bet he was a wonderfully good humored person.

When buster was little he used to play jokes on unsuspecting people. I read about this in one biography of his. He's rig up a fishing pole and hook a wire to it then hide in the bushes. Some unsuspecting passerby would notice the fishing pole with no one at it. Apparantly it seemed as if they'd gone off for lunch or to the restroom. When Buster saw their intrest he pulled on that line making it look like there was a fish on the end. A crowd would gather to see the trick! It was fun!
