  • I have been to the arrl website, etc. Do you have any suggestions for a book on learning basic electronics. There are a lot of useless books out there. I was wondering if you knew of any good ones.

  • I guess I won't be getting a qsl card then?

  • Well...put it this way, with my 2 meter base setup, I've been able to hit repeaters 35-45 miles away, and that's with a MOBILE antenna grounded via a metal plate, sitting in my ATTIC! VHF is very line of sight, meaning that if your antenna can 'see' it, you can usually work it.

Across the US? Well, for the tech license you can always use echolink, but for the real action a HF transceiver is where it's at.

  • hi, how far a 2meter radio can tx/rx? new to this and thinking of getting my technician license. thanks. oh what radio that can work across the U.S. or even out conus.

  • Excellent and informative,,,Thanks for posting. 73's from BlueCollarWorkshop N7RUE AZ
