James is a poet and playwright, and a member of the Intangible Collective, a group of spoken word hip-hop and other artists seeking to introduce more people to poetry, and to foster artistic growth within the group and among peers. He recently graduated from SUNY College at Geneseo with a dual degree in English and Theatre. James founded and coached the SUNY Geneseo slam team, leading them to a national collegiate ranking of 27th in their first year. He remains their alumni advisor and coach. Recently, he has been focusing on the new York Poetry scene, having frequently competed individually at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, and with Team Meta-Four at the Soundbites Poetry festival in April. He enjoys learning to become left handed, awkward moments and guilty pleasures.

Nuclear Poetry takes the audience into a 'literary bomb shelter' for a night of spoken word by candlelight with the message that everyone has a voice.

It was formed as an experiment to get New School poetry students together to share their work for a night. People seemed to like it and the series was born.

An amazing thing happened in the months that followed: people started coming and a strong community began to grow, and with it came a real sense of spirit filling the room during the shows. The event is now in its second year.

Every show is different, often taking inspiration from current headlines and events. Readers for the night include writers of all ages and levels...professors, published writers, students and beginners. Some quiet, some loud, some traditional, some experimental. It's everyone's night.

Please join us, bring an open heart and love for writing and let's make some magic.
