This song was origionally a Vietnam war protest song written by Country Joe and the Fish, and performed at Woodstock. I thought with a few lyric changes it could still be relevant today, not only that it is fun to play

Lyrics

VERSE 1

Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Afghanistan
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.

CHORUS

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Afghanistan
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

VERSE 2

Well, come on Obama, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get rag heads
The only good Taliban is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.

CHORUS

VERSE 3

Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if shoot a man,
That they're killin' a Taliban.

CHORUS

VESRSE 4

Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Afghanistan.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send your girls off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your kid come home in a box.

  • THAT my friends is well said!!! Hey you all should hear the bomb song by a band from Arizona called Chuck Wagon and the Wheels....a 70's Protest Band. Great Lyrics and meaningful to our situation even now.

  • Thanks man. May the God of Rock smile upon you.

  • Amazing how little needed to change for this to still be relevant... again.

  • I saw this on a Woodstock then/and now show a few days ago. It had to be done.

  • Nice. I love how surprised Obama supporters get when they realize it's still the same government, just with a new face.

Great vid, I figure this song will always be relevant, just swap a few words and phrases each time.
