Presentation of possibilities of my own design servo controller. Various independent speeds, 18-channels, 8-bit resolution (I'm planning to TRY increasing resolution to 10 bits).

Possibility of setting a position to be reached in desired time. You can see it in the movie at 0:30 - 0:40 (each servo has different distance to go, but all of them are set to do this in the same time, so the move starts and ends at the same time).
Controlled by Atmel ATmega8, 16MHz.
PC communication via rs232.

  • and u use it for what?

  • @forteleaerieneromane

I wanted to build hexapod robot, but eventually, well, I didn't ;-) And I've always been interested in motor controll...

  • Excuse me what are some of the applications of a 350 kw industrial servo ? If it is produced for 12k USD with controller each is that cheap?

  • Industrial servos are totally different than these RCservos. The common thing is position control through the use of feedback.

Industrial servo controlers have to be able to measure high velocities and set the right currents for each of 3phases (usually motors are 3phase: BLDC,AC or Perm.Magnet).

It has to be very precise and fast. Read for example aboud Field Orientation Control.

RC servos are simple mechanisms based on DC motors and potentiometer as position meter with PID,PD or PI regulator

  • Hey I'm trying to do the same type of motion with servos and I'm wondering about the software you're using - i'm using Arduino Mega and trying to program this all but I'm wondering how you did this (you mentioned that you made your own design for a servo moto controller? OK thanks!

  • ME: sweet, now add legs and a couple of laser range sensors and make a robot centipede!!!

my cousin: imagine watching this while you were HIGH!!!!

  • Why not just buy a Polou Maestro for $18?

  • I'm having a project that control ONLY one servo, but I can't do anything, I've tried the 555 IC, 89C51, ... but didn't work, Can u help me how to control 1 servo pls ?

  • How are you powering the servos? How much amperage do you think all of those servos are pulling?

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • cool

  • I LOVE IT!

    SERVOS!!!!!!!!!!

  • make it opensource and contribute to the digital world education!!
