Karzai sworn in to office for controversial 2nd term

Hamid Karzai has been sworn in as President of Afganistan for a second term. He's taken office despite the UN confirming fraud in the August election, before his rival Abdullah Abdullah, dropped out of a second ballot earlier this month.

According to yesterday's Der Spiegel article 'The Land of the Rich. Medvedev's Desperate Fight against Corruption' the Russian government is almost indistinguishable from that of Afghanistan.
