Well, this is actually the Android 2.0 SDK ported (very roughly) over to the G1/Dream from Akira Harada. All props go to him and the great things he's doing for the Android community =) If you're excited as I am for Android 2.0 Eclair then this is a great way to get a preview of what it will be like (not necessarily how it will perform). As soon as Cyanogen gets the source code he will cook up a fully functional ROM again, BIG UPS to Akriah for making this preview possible. =)
Once again, this is just a PREVIEW. There are NO Google apps, NO Market, NO way of installing apps... Its just so you can get a FEEL for the look and some of the features of 2.0 Eclair. =)
As you can see from the video, visually, some things have changed. I feel like Google makes their stuff open source to see what other people do with it, then they kinda "bite off" other's improvements. For instance, some of the new icons are very similar to HTC's skinning of Android using Sense UI. The new 2.0 also has almost the same transition animation when returning to the home screen as Hero. The same green highlights can also be found strewn about the new firmware update. Now, they are taking a lot of the features from Moto Blur and having a sort of Universal inbox and integrating a lot of social networking sites into your contacts.

******************************** Taken from XDA: [ROM] ECLAIR from SDK Hey, If someone is too lazy to download SDK and wants to try eclair on G1 here it is. Just quick and dirty hack, and many issues which I'm not going to solve, or even take a look closer. edit: Ok, I might take a look in my spare time as I truly love eclair features Radio interface works for both call and data, wifi in theory loads but doesn't scan and connect. Bt doesn't work. If you have an Exchange account it syncs mail and contacts (just add mail account). Launcher is slow with scrolling, browser is multitouch with double tap (I really like it, and can't wait for AOSP Eclair!)

This is really cool, but do you know of any development forums for the motorola cliq? I'm just trying to find a community for the cliq that regularly updates their progress with the device. I love the cliq but the lack of 1.6 is killing me, I want the free google gps real time navigation!!!!
Ugh... I know what you mean. The fact that they haven't been able to root the Cliq is what turned me off to getting one. =/ There isn't really a community for it cuz its not rooted yet. Once they figure that out there should be some cool development for it =)
