The 2011 Amgen Tour of California's overall start will begin on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, one of the most beautiful locations in all of the state. The race will roll-out through the Host City of South Lake Tahoe and head in a clockwise direction up the western shore of Lake Tahoe, where the riders will encounter the first of three KOMs ("King of [the] Mountain [climbs]") on this stage at Emerald Bay (elev. 6,850').

Dear Amgen, It is no where close to snowing anywhere in San Diego County right now. Thank you, and we miss you.

@UnipsychleProduction The raod will be closed just as the race comes through. If the race starts at 10:30 it should take them 25 to 35 minutes to get down hwy 50 and trun left on 89. It should close somewhere around 10:45. If I was going around Emerald bay I would be through by 9 am. I am planning for giant traffic jams.

@LakeTahoeWeather Do you, or anybody else who happens to read this, know when the 89 closes for the race?

We are getting ready here in Lake Tahoe. We can't wait to have the Amgen tour roll thru town.

could this be any cheesier? Tahoe is cool and this is a great par course, but cheese ball delivery makes it hard to get through the thing.
