Kings & Queens of England Part 4 of 9: Henry VIII.
****** This presentation is part of a school project carried out by French students ******

I am Henri VIII, I was born in Greenwich (England) on June 28th 1491 and died in Westminster, London, on January the 28th 1547.
I am the second son of Henri VII. After the death of my brother Arthur, I accessed to the throne in 1509. I married 6 women and some of them have been killed at my orders. The first one was Catherine of Aragon.

"Hi my name is Catherine of Aragon and I was Queen of England as the first wife of Henry VIII of England. I was a Roman Catholic. After 24 years of marriage, Henry divorced me in 1533."

I did not want to wait for the divorce which was finally refused by the Church. Until then,
I was a fervent Catholic, but after breaking with the Catholic Church the divorce was pronounced
in 1533. The next year, I established the Act of Ascendancy and had my opponents executed
(for example Thomas More and Jean Fisher). Having only daughters, I contributed to the execution of my second wife.

"My name is Anne Boleyn and I was the second wife of King Henry VIII. I was executed in 1536 because Henry accused me of adultery."

Then I married Jeanne Seymour.

"Hello, my name is Jane Seymour and I was the third wife of King Henry VIII. I gave birth to Henrys
first son but, unfortunately, I died of post natal complications in 1537 at Hamton Court."

My first son, Edward VII, was finally born and succeeded me on the throne in 1547.

"Me?! My name is Anne of Cleves and I was the 4th wife of Henry VIII for only six months. It was Henrys shortest marriage!"

"Call me Catherine Howards. My nickname was a rose without a thorn. I was the 5th wife of Henry VIII. I was accused of treason so I was killed in 1541. "

"My name is Catherine Parr, I was the last of Henrys wives. I was the most married English Queen
with four husbands."

Everybody remembers me because I am the founder of Anglicanism.
God save Henry VIII.
