European governments are cutting costs - and France is feeling the financial pinch. The country needs to save €90 billion - and President Nicolas Sarkozy is planning to raise taxes and freeze spending to bring the budget in line.France is focusing its cost-saving measures on social welfare expenditures. But citizens are worried about drastic cuts. Our reporter Grit Hofmann visits Flers, a small town in Normandy, and spoke with residents about France's headaches and hardships.
