Dollywood #70 Cinder-Ella 2009

Dollywood's #70 return to service sporting the new look. Was told that Katie would still be operating on a 31 day turnaround service if possible. Don't know if I personally like the non-yukon look for the #70, and I REALLY wish they'd put the IC Steamboat whistle back on, a more powerful whistle for a more powerful engine. Either way, glad to see her back on the tracks. It was the day after an off day at Dollywood and the tracks were super slick, #70 slipped all the way up the hill. Brand new pistons and gear = raw power not seen for a while.

Well so much for the 31 day turnaround. #70 is back in for re-inspection after a brief time out. Might possibly see her out again by end of year, more likely next season opening.

I wish they would restore her to the way she was with the WPYR Im guessing like 73 whos on home rails.

i didn't like 70 this way, the way she looks now is ok, the yellow paint..........eehh its ok a little guady.

That whistle sounds like Nevada Northern #40's

I like the new look. Just from listening to the sound of the whistle, its obvious that it is a Powell 3 chime. Its not as powerful as an IC steamboat whistle, but its still powerful for a shortbell 3 chime.

#70's whistle in this video sounds like the one off of Nevada Northern #40... and I'm not sure why they changed her apperance either... she looked fine in her previous look...
