@weeebbz MY GRANDFATHER SERVED AS WELL ON THE CARRIER AND SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL...BUT TO BAD SHE IS SCRAP METAL NOW...I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT MY GRADFATHER BUT HE WAS A GREAT MAN...
The stated reason was the manpower for the Bonnie would be used on the new Iroquois destroyers. Even despite a recent multi-million dollar refit, the Bonnie was near its end. These light fleet carriers were originally designed to last 3-5 years. Canada and several other countries got a lot of good use out of them.
Awesome! Thanks for posting. I have a model kit of HMS Colossus, an almost-sister ship. Want to build the Bonnie but think it will be too hard to modify the angled deck. Maybe the Magnificent!
my grandfather served on bonnie 2 times he was a aircraft mechanic and know he is in charge of keeping all the aircraft in the shearwater aviation musuem up to standered
My father also served on the Bonnie. It was often tied up at the jetty right in front of our PMQ! I also remember going aboard her on "family day". It was a great ol' flat-top for sure!

Why did the Trudeau government decommission the Bonnie?

Shame this and all our heritage were thrown away in 69. Way to go Canada! Tri Service!

Thanks very much for uploading. Quality isn't the best but we still can see it in action. Too bad we lost the capability.
