This amazing video was made possible by www.wolfgangsvault.com and www.longliverock.org. All credit for filming and audio goes to them, Connor McBrine-Ellis only synced the Audio to the Video sources he found.

I found the video for the first half (which is VERY high quality, and the best looking footage I have found of Tanglewood) up until halfway into Christmas on Tommy on the Wolfgang's Vault facebook page, where it probably is still available. I got the second half of the video, which is very rough VHS quality but yet still the best currently available, from the Tanglewood 1970 HIWATT torrent on www.longliverock.org.

Both the video that I got off of Wolfgang's Vault and the second half off of LongLiveRock DID NOT have very good audio - some was a live feed mono soundboard mix, and some was from an audience recording, and it sounded pretty terrible. Then, I found out that Wolfgang's Vault released a remastered version of the audio, which is the official recording, in stereo, and it sounded GREAT! Unfortunately, it did not sync up very well with the video. The video's tape speed fluctuated CONSTANTLY, especially at the end with My Generation and on the second half with the VHS footage, so I ended up making about 500 or 600 edits keeping the video in sync with the audio! I didn't adjust the audio, because I didn't want to mess up the audio speed or quality of the amazing sounding remix, so I only adjusted the video speed to keep it in sync.

I hope you enjoy my work, until they FINALLY release it officially, and in the future, I hope they release something officially from the 1971, 1973 or 1975 tours! If you're a record official or something, lol please release something from the vaults from these eras!!!

If you want to host this video on your own website or on a torrent, make sure to include this complete blurb you are reading right now and a link to http://hyperactmedia.com/tanglewood

THANKS, EVERYONE!

  • @ArtVandelay421 I don't think anyone thinks "Song Remains the Same" is a good example of Zeppelin live. If you saw the "Led Zeppelin DVD" footage (particularly the Earl's Court show) you'll get a better sense of the live Zeppelin show. I agree the Who were a better live act (as great as Bonzo and Jonsey were, they lacked the PROPULSION of Moonie and Ox)...but its a closer race than SRTS would have you believe.

  • @MiRaleigh I don't see what's so bad about SRTS, it blew me away, really. Some incredible guitar work there. I'll have to give the Led Zeppelin DVD a listen though. My buddy has it and says that it's pretty good.

  • This just might be their best live concert.

  • @bondurango That's highly unlikely - so many of their best gigs were not filmed at all, like the 1971 gigs, which, in my opinion, are the best of them all.

Check out the Young Vic concerts (one of which is included on a second cd with a new expansion of Who's Next, visit amazon and you'll see), or even some 1971 bootlegs, not ONE bad performance.

  • super show, who posts this stuff? god bless you

  • Watch The Who live and watch the way Keith is almost constantly watching Pete and John is almost constantly watching Keith and Pete is almost constantly signalling to Keith. They were playing off the seat of their pants and needed to keep an eye on each other to see where they were going next. That's why they were and always will be the best live rock stage act.

  • @bondurango I've had this on video bootleg for about 20 years, I've certainly always thought it was their best live show of the ones available on boot or authorized release.

  • THE quintessential opening rock song! GREAT example of a four piece act. Entwistle pouring over with the melody like thunder over a valley. Moon cascading all over the place. Roger doing his thing. And Pete! My Gawd, that guitar solo tone! RIPS Heaven & Hell into one!

  • Moon's best H&H ... In my humble opinion :)

  • The Who have always been my favourite band and always will be. I just have to say that between 69 and 73 they were quite simply the best band on the planet by far, both in the studio and live on stage. Tommy, Live at Leeds, Whos Next and Quadrophenia are all simply quite awesome. Whos Next is a brilliant LP but how good should it have been had it been finished as Lifehouse and again had Live at Leeds been released in its entirety in 1970. They were at there peak individually and as a band.

  • @thebigguyconnor TSRTS is a good dvd, but the LZ DVD is way better. The footage from Royal Albert Hall in 1970 is jaw-droping

  • The Greatest Band ever at their peak!!!

  • @mamieike

Agree with you...love Zep but live...I found them dull. I still remember when Page pulled out the bow during Dazed and Confused and seeing a lot of folks head to the concessions. With the Who...they just kept you mesmerized. Plus, I always felt the Who respected their fans where as Zep could care less.
