The chat show of Bert Newton - considered as one of the giants of Australian tv entertainment - began under the title The Morning Show in 1992 and adopted the then vacant title GMA in 1993. The program was cancelled in 2005 and aired its final episode on 16 December 2005 as Newton moved to Channel Nine.

I travelled Australia in 2004 and got up to watch Bert every morning. He's funny to the core. Its sad he never got a show for us in Britain. We'd have loved him. Keep going Bert!

i remember the old morning show, some tv channels had just started broadcasting on UHF so we were able to pick up a few new channels, one of them being southern cross and just in time to check out berts new show! of course now we are getting ready for digital tv to fully take over

I work at Ch10 and was the master control operator working on this final day of GMA. I had the pleasure of being the last person to shake Bert's hand and wishing him all the best for his last show seconds before he walked into the rear door of the studio. He was a load of fun to have in the building. Glad he is still on the TV.
