Welcome to this screencast of decisionAccelerator, a decision modeling tool developed by fastworks and implemented as an add-in to Microsoft Excel. In this screencast I'll focus on using a mind map to structure a decision.
We often use a mind map to structure complex problems and/or decisions with groups. It provides a visual and flexible way to organize the goal, objectives, and alternatives. Sometimes well make many iterations of the mind map before transferring it to the decision model for further analysis.
We start the mind map with a central topic or goal. From the center we build out a hierarchical map of the problem. Each level representing a different level of the decision hierarchy. The advantage of the map is that it lets you drill down into the detail or quickly roll-up to the top levels of the hierarchy.
When ready, we transfer the mind map into the decision model and start the ranking process with the group.
