Guiomar Novaes was the most celebreated brazilian pianist in the World. Probably this is one of the greatest interpretation of this Study.

  • Novaes makes this magnificent etude the true poem that it is...she was incomparable in Chopin. But I have always loved her Beethoven and Schumann too, in fact EVERYTHING she played. Her Chopin and Beethoven recordings were still widely available last time I checked, but her marvellous Schumann recordings (Carnaval, Papillons, Kinderszenen, etc.) have all disappeared, except for the Concerto. Would be great to find these on YT! But I treasure any little bit of her gorgeous playing--thanks!!!!

  • Magnificent! Sincere and poetic.

  • A duet d'amore for cello and violin....

  • Guiomar FOREVER!

I absolutely love her velvety touch. She would have amazed Chopin with her playing. I agree with every single word soami2u says. She was incomparable in Chopin and superb in everything she played. She played with her soul and spirit. Divine. Magnificent. Magical. Poetic.

    Guiomar FOREVER!

  • The availability of recordings of Cortot pupils gets less and less, its a shame for our society who does no more care about, there are treasures to discover from Eliane Richepin also another famous pupil of Cortot. Exists still the 4 Ballades of Chopin and 3 Mazurkas and all Preludes. all the other seems lost (Chopin sonatas life recording, Schumann integrale, Debussy and Ravel integrale, all the famous concertos for piano and orchestra.....). She performed more than 500 times with orchestra !!!

  • This is my favorite chopin etude ever! This is stephen by the way.
