The words "vegan" and "veganism" are used to mean various things. This video addresses the history of the words and several ways they are commonly used. Closer to the end, I share my own beliefs about the meaning of veganism.

Thank you very much.
Why didn't you show your face on this video? Did you get problems when you did in your last one?

Another point is:
The Vegan Society of The United Kingdom have a definition 'Dietary vegan', which means you dispense with all animal products for food, even though this does not correlate with The Vegan Society definition which is:
"Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing and any other purpose."
The word 'exploitation' here does not mean 'as long as you're not mean to them."

Another confusion arises from the word 'exploitation'. Some think this means 'No going to far." but I believe it means, "Use without consent."
I think of it as non-use of animals, as far as is possible and practical.

Very true. :)
I had never thought about the "go vegan" phrase in that way though.
I like to think about it as non-violence. Exploiting non human animals is inherently violent etc.
I like how you mentioned that veganism is about humans as well as animals, so true, if it weren't then we would be hypocrites.
