1964 American LaFrance Fire truck used for promotion and advertising for J&J Metro Moving and Storage. Fire truck has been used in several movies and TV shows including Passenger 57 (with Wesley Snipes where it appeared on the cover of VHS and on all the movie posters found in the theaters). Fire truck has also been used in many parades often carrying Santa Clause, and has been a hit at many children's birthday parties. This fire truck Has also been used to carry a casket of a fallen firefighter for his final journey (fellow firefighters rode along on the fire truck while it was draped in black). The fire truck has a 600 cubic inch continental 6 cylinder gasoline engine with less than 1000 miles on it (installed November of 1999). Fire truck has always been stored inside warehouse since we have owned it since February of 1991 (it has never spent a night outside).
This Fire Truck was in the movie "Passenger 57" with Wesley Snipes.

It just needs a period beacon and siren to finish it off IMO. Thanks for sharing!!

@gsm19911 The earliest factory-installed diesels in an ALF that I know of were several open-cab 900-Series tillers for Fairfax County, VA in 1966. They had Detroit 6-71's. Most 900-Series diesel pumps had 6V-53's in them, unless the pump capacity was 1250 or higher then you went with the 6-71, 8V-71, etc.

Do you know when American Lafrance started installing diesel engines in their rigs? Where I am from the 1st diesel (Detroit 6V71) Lafrance's were bought in 1967. Before that they were all gasoline.

This is a great old fire truck that still runs and is a hit where ever it goes. Thanks for sharing this piece of history.
