12 year old Daniel Barenboim plays J.C.Bach Pergolesi

Here is a Philips 45 RPM of Daniel Barenboim playing J.C. Bach's sonata in Bb-major opus 17 nr 6. It's from his earliest recording session, 1954.

If he was indeed 12 when he played this, then this is absolutely incredible. The way every phrase is so well shaped, is just one indication that he had a mind that way beyond his years. To perform like this, incredible talent isn't enough, a very fine, natural intellect is needed too.

Barenboim is an incredible human being in so many ways.

Super! Daniel Barenboim grew up in Tel Aviv and was my aunt's neighbour at the time this was recorded. On my visits to her I used to listen to him. Wish I could play like this...
