Allan Hughes of Anvil Pottery, Llanrhaeadr, Denbigh, Wales shows how he makes a traditional salt pig, or salt dolly as they are called in North Wales. Part four of a four part sequence shows the biscuit firing, glazing and glaze firing of a sgraffito decorated stoneware salt pig. Other work by Allan Hughes can be seen at www.anvilpottery.co.uk. The video is shot by Andrew Fielding an archaeologist who has been working to restore a derelict open pan salt works in Northwich, Cheshire go to www.aandafielding.uwclub.net. Andrew and Allan have also been salt glazing pots with salt they have made themselves.
