Excellent tutorial. I've been using synth1 so far almost only for the portamento facilities. But I see there's more there than meets the eye.

@lzrbld Unity is Canonical's own stab at a UI. For better or worse, I'm a KDE man myself. And yes, I meant DM; my brain could use an fsck.
Mint has a GNOME3/Cinnamon environment, basically Gnome3 with actual plugin functionality since it's quite rudamentary on its own. I thought you were running Arch for a while. I'm off topic though... Good job and I'll see about commenting on some of your later stuff if I have any requests or comments. Excellent job on these! You are helping me out.

Awesome tutorials! I just started using LMMS and had no idea how to make songs until I watched your videos. You rock!

@lzrbld Okay thank you so much for your time :) have a wonderful day.
@lzrbld Do you know where I could download extra (preferably free) plug-ins?

kvraudio and vstcafe. You can tell kvraudio to search for free VST plugins, and vstcafe reviews a lot of free plugins as well.

A new theme on your desktop I see. Gnome3?

Not sure, but I think it might have been Unity. Now I use Linux Mint, and I don't know what desktop manager that's built on.
BTW, you're thinking of a desktop manager, not theme.
