@reissue True....but even that probably came from someone else.

@gumbo66700 I was referring to Jesse's lines, the sliding 6th etc. should have been more specific. But yeah the lyrics are obviously SJE's, with a few variations. At any rate I don't care how many times that riff is recycled, I love the way it bounces along. A real booty shaker. Good to see so many blues fans here :).

come on man, dig your roots, that's ol' Sleepy John Estes classic, on Decca, vintage 1938. At that time Chester Burnett was not a baby anymore, but not yet killing floors. With Jesse Ed Davis, what a great band behind Taj Mahal, and what a singer !

@JJKaeshagen Taj is a cool cat, not was. He is the greatest. Love this man.

This is just fantastic, Taj is way cool from back in the days!

I find it interesting that Eric Clapton used that same guitar lick on Crossroads.

Look! Weird Al Yankovich on bass,..no, wait, It,s John Holmes before he entered the adult business

cool as a fan.

at 1:27 Taj sounded like Howling wolf, and he reminds me of wilson pickett with the powerful vocals. What a great band. These guys rock and though I have known about them for years I am just starting to really apprecitate them now. Thank you Youtube and Sirlongpass.

This is basically based on Howlin Wolf's Killing Floor.
