Slavery wasn't around because of racism. It was due to the requirement of a cheap labor force. Africans were a typical type of people to see in slavery in America, because they were the easiest to obtain and suppress. Native Americans were also slaves. However, they knew the land better than the Africans and were able to plan escapes easier. Ultimately, it wasn't due to racism.
