East Japan Railway Company (JR East) developed the diesel trains which equip with the hybrid system that was a new power system to reduce environmental load.
JR East constructed three cars which were world's first hybrid railroad carriages for a commercial vehicle.
And JR East has begun to use them for business driving.
JR East checks various data at the time of the business driving for about 2 years and is going to examine a mass production cars in future.
By a hybrid system, it makes good use of live energy in a time in brakes, and reduction (at the Koumi Line, about 10%) does fuel consumption rate than the current diesel train (Kiha 110 system) and saves energy and stops engines for at the time of the station stops, and reduction (about 30dB) the noise.

Hybrid trains don't just mean hydrogen powered. Hybrid trains have been around since the 1960's at least.

I think they aren't Diesel one, but Hydrogen powered. They're working on a braking-recharging system of battery. I hope they'll finish soon, this great idea.

Uhm, I think we got that already. We've had Diesel/Electric trains like since forever.
