Used a practice video from a halau I know, and just followed the instructions the kumu gave her students!

Ur supposed to do the varu for 8 counts, then fa'arapu halfway down, then down, then fa'arapu halfway up, then up...fa'arapu in place 4-8 counts, then go down and up, and repeat first verse. Fa'arapu 4 counts, ope to the right, fa'arapu 4 counts, then ope to the left, and fa'arapu in place!

I decided to make it more my style, so the second time going down, instead of fa'arapu, I used the varu (figure8), third time, I did the afata (box) :D

I can go down, but fa'arapu up is not an option. So 1. Either loose weight so my legs can carry the whole body weight while on my knees, or 2. Strengthen up my legs!

  • how long did it take you to be this good?

  • @anira409 Hi anira409 Thank u so much for ur kind comment! Well I've danced for almost 3 years, and it was not until last year that I started to record my self, to see if I had improved...I don't see my self as good yet bc I've learned all I know by watching videos on youtube, but I'm glad that I can be an inspiration for others, and that u like it! Right now I really suck, bc of a 3 month long break bc of summer vacation, injuries, and plain lazyness...

  • @Gille87 wow that does take a long time to be good. I really cant tell the difference between a good fa'arapu and a sloppy one. But yes your video really inspired me. I am learning a lot from you and the others.

  • @anira409 it ws the same for me, but later u learn the different steps and movements, the names, and how they are done, and u've danced for a while, it's easier to see what to look for:D Thank u again, glad that my video did some good^^,!

  • Nice nice! Btw What song are u using? Idk why but I can't find songs to practice to...

  • @einrebx33 @einrebx33 I dunno what the song is called sorry, I just usually find a video on YT w beats I like, and then practice to it, or I just download and convert YT videos in to mp3 files, so I have it on my computer...for this session I used a song used by a halau...just look up their site PalomarPolynesian here in YT:D
