@turkbot, a number of fully armed F-4's was ready to scramble from Crete, to attack the landing fleet. I guess you can imagine what would have hapened! Unfortunately, political reasons that nobody knows exactly canceled the operation. If the orders where not canceled, history would have been diferent by now!
